Appledore Sausage and Ale Festival 2018

Hosted in St Mary’s Hall of the picturesque shipbuilding village of Appledore, the Sausage and Ale Festival showcases a wide range of our fabulous local Ales, Ciders and Sausages on the 13th and 14th April.  These wonderful local products will be accompanied by live Music through out and Children’s entertainment 1-4pm which is free entry for Children accompanied by a responsible adult. There will be many other alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, as well as Ice Cream available for the little’uns! 

Score cards will be provided for the revelers to rate the Ales, Ciders and Sausages.  The score cards will contribute towards the judging and prize winning beverage and sausage.  Last years fabulous award winners were Summerskills Brewery (Plymouth) for ‘Best Ale’ with their Westward Ho!  The ‘Best Sausage’ award went to Frank Heard’s Butchers of Westward Ho! For their sumptuous Chilli and Garlic Sausage and ‘Best Cider’ was awarded to Sandford Orchard’s fruity ‘Fanny’s Bramble‘.

This years live music includes dancey celtic folk rock from Black Friday playing on Friday 13th.  ‘Having seen then live it was as a good a night as I could imagine stood in front of a band!’ Mark Lamaar, BBC Radio 2.  Alongside them will be local favourites The Rivals as well as South Devon reggae band Datura and opening the show local punk rockers Black Anchors.  Not forgetting the Charity Raffle for West Quay Fun’d Raisers.

On Saturday 14th April gracing the stage will be the hotly tipped Jaramiah Ferrari all the way from Manchester.  Influenced by the likes of The Police and Michael Jackson, they bring a fine blend of high energy indie pop rock and reggae, hugely catchy tunes with very dancey rhymes.   They are accompanied by another very highly rated band on the touring circuit called Captain Accident and the Disasters.  Having toured extensively over the UK, including Glastonbury Festival and many European dates, Captain Accident and the Disasters have been winning over crowds with their infectious Reggae, Ska, Dub and they have shared the stage with the likes of Bad Manners, Less Than Jake and Aswad to name a few.  Alongside them will be a fabulous array of local talent including Basils Balls Up Band (blues/rock), The Raggamuffins (Ska), Off the Wagon (skiffle/country), The Rasscals (mixed covers), Rescue Remedy (blues/funk), Yazzy (songbird).

The Appledore Sausage and Ale Festival takes place on Friday evening 13th April from 5pm £10 and Saturday all day from 12pm 14th April £12 or £18 for a two day pass and they are available online at http://www.appledorebeerfestival.co.uk
